Bobbie Carlyle has created a Limited Edition bronze sculpture, “Self-Made Man.” This sculpture is a miniaturized version of her life-sized statue. Made from bronze, the man carves himself from a stone enveloping the lower half of his body. As he cuts away the stone, he creates his character and thus his future.

The sculpture is a metaphor for a man liberating himself using his own strength and fortitude. He must persevere.

This remarkable bronze sculpture has become Bobbie Carlyle’s most successful work of art. This sculpture helped get her featured in numerous exhibitions and replicas of her bronze sculpture has been installed in many public places, business, and other venues.

This particular piece is the 232/1000th edition. It is 23″ tall and comes with a base made from wood and granite. The base is inscribed with the name of the piece, edition, and signed by the artist.

Bobbie’s artistic career began over three decades ago. As a result, she began sculpting a wide variety of subjects, from wildlife to figurative sculptures. Her sculpture of a self-made made propelled her into international acclaim.

Over time, Bobbie has had several commissions for contemporary bronze sculptures. In addition, the Los Angeles Public School district commissioned numerous works. She is one of only five artists chosen to create a memorial statue for Benjamin Banneker planned for placement within the Memorial Core of Washington, D.C.
