Abstract Sculpture
Primed with acrylic, a textured coat, and multiple glazing color coats, John Grandfield created an abstract sculpture of a woman. The woman kneels on the floor. The blue glaze represents her wish that her dreams will come true. Â
BIOGRAPHY
John Grandfield grew up in Montecito, California. The coastline’s stunning natural beauty became his muse — each piece of art inspired by the world around him.Â
Grandfield was mostly self-taught until he had several months of lessons with a local artist. When he was 13, Dorothy McKenzie taught him techniques that would influence his art.
Over the years, several artists, including Ray Strong and Maxfield Parrish, strongly influenced his artistic style. Although he dabbled in art as a young adult, it wasn’t until 1989 that he became a full-time artist.Â
Grandfield uses his art to encourage people to treasure and preserve their natural surroundings. His art has been a valued addition to many private collections around the world.
