Misplaced (Series One)
Bassey AsukwoOnce upon a time, men and women on this very globe walked naked as they attended to daily life affairs. It was so normal that they knew the time for being lustful or when it was time for procreation. When it was time for farming, hunting animals or indulging in magic, they did so purposefully.Â
Because if they didn’t hunt, they would steal to survive. If they stole, a sense of moral guilt would strike. It strikes even when they steal without being caught.Â
When sellers left their goods alone, they would leave stones to indicate the price of each item. This would allow them to account for any sales that take place. Everyone respected one another. People were happy and they worked together for a bountiful harvest.Â
All of these things made me think of how things are today. Can a vendor sell without paying attention or playing surveillance in the market? Can they place stones to indicate prices?Â
Over time, we have misplaced cultures, good habits, values, morals, and trust instead of improving them. Nevertheless, it is not too late but we have to find them once more or create them again.Â
