I entitled this painting “Think Through and Act” to communicate the deeper meaning behind the signs and symbols.
Art has never been static. The freedom to think and practice what we feel has evolved into a plethora of artistic styles, concepts and forms.
I used various signs and symbols to assume new forms and meanings in a contemporary art praxis.
These signs and symbols accompanied with lines, dots, and colors will mean different things to different people. For example, the swastika sign has had different meanings to different cultures. It has a unique meaning to Indians as it does to Nazis in Germany.
I have honestly thought about a world with equal treatment of others – a world where certain people are not seen as animals or slaves.
People free from the idealogy of others being of greater perceived value due to the color of their skin. People could be free to be judged soley by their intellect.
Our world could be filled with love, peace, beauty, affection, and harmony. I have thought of a world where those with white skin love those with black skin. It would be a world where black children can walk freely without being killed just for the color of their skin or being humiliated for beauty given to them by nature.
I had thought to travel to Europe, American and Asia, and host a party to receive me, but I am scared. I have thought of so many things. I can see the clock ticking as time passes.
We are so much more than just the color of our skin! If we work together, we can accomplish so much individually and together as brethren. We must work past judging one another for our skin color.
Each sign and symbol represents the different cultures that I hope come together to work for the greater good.
